I have had a WEEK folks, a week indeed. Juggling grad school, church, music, gym, friends, AND making content is not for the weak (no pun intended lol). I know it's a cliche but there are truly not enough hours in the day. Nevertheless, even though the week was tough it was still productive and fun. I streamed Mon-Sat and turned out with a couple of hot remixes in the process. I did bible study every day last week with my homie Ty. We are reading through the book of Jeremiah right now and let me tell you I was not expecting ANYTHING that is going on in this book right now it's actually crazy. I had an absolutely nuts leg workout and it literally hurt to walk for a couple of days. I had to take an extra rest day, cause the next day I was supposed to run 4 miles and there was no way that was going to happen. With all that being said, let's get into it shall we ?!?!
These Remixes Are Getting HOT!!🥵🔥
This week on stream I made two VERY hot remixes, well one is VERY hot and the other is kinda upper mid to be honest but has the potential of being VERY hot. The first remix I did was to a song called, "CUAL ES ESA" by Feid & Pirlo, which translates to "What is that". This is one of the hit records from the Colombian reggaeton artist's third EP FERXXOCALIPSIS. I used to be obsessed with this song when it dropped last December and what's crazy is that I tried to sample/remix this record back then, but for some reason it just didn't work. I guess second times the charm?????
For this remix, I went for a Jersey club vibe and primarily sampled Feid's intro verse. Feid's intro verse is what made me obsessed with the song to begin with. The vocal melody mixed with the flow combines for a performance that you just want to hear over and over again. I used to start the song over JUST to hear that opening part from Feid. This is what I wanted to convey by making that part the crux of my remix. I ran into some issues on finding the best key for 808. It was either gonna be too low or too high, so I just left it low. I think me adding the Soft Clipper and boosting the 808 helped but I think it still needs some tweaking. Overall, I'm happy with the product but like I mentioned earlier I think it still needs some work, so we will see if it's something I go back to soon. Here's what I came up with and let me know what you think in the comments below! (I recommend listening to the original first then the remix so you can hear what I did)

The second remix I made was to a song I came across recently called, "Pensándote" by Rauw Alejandro, which translates to "thinking of you" or "thinking about you". "Pensándote" is featured on the Puerto Rican superstar's debut album, Afrodisíaco. As you probably put together this is why I titled this blog post "Pensándote, el amor de mi vida" which translates to "thinking of you, the love of my life". Now I had to name this blog post after this song because guys..... this remix is so darn HOT!! This just might be the hottest remix I've done and lowkey my favorite as well. Now if you know me I always say that whenever I make something hot, BUT I REALLY MEAN IT THIS TIME.
The original song is about Rauw's encounter with a former partner that he hasn't seen in a while. He goes on by telling her how much better she looks, how he wants to take her out for a memorable night, and even asks if she still thinks about them being together or if she's moved on looking for someone else. Now usually in my remixes, I do a lot of vocal and instrument chopping to the point where it sounds like an entirely different song, which is the point, but I wanted to still keep the essence of the story Rauw is telling us in this song. A story that, I'm sure for some of us, is more reality than fantasy.
The original song is a classic reggaeton with that signature tresillo rhythm, but as soon as I isolated the vocals and sped it up, I heard more of an island afrobeat vibe mixed with some hard-hitting Detroit-style 808s. In the majority of the first verse, Rauw is rapping bar for bar almost on some Lil Baby type, I knew that's where I wanted to direct my attention and was gonna be able to do my thing. With some rearranging and musical surgery, I put it all together to make it sound like a cohesive song. I even added a little bridge section to give a fall to the energy. I can genuinely say I am extremely happy with how this track came out. I do think it is my favorite remix I've done so far and probably will be for a long time. I believe I accomplished keeping the story of the song intact while making it sound like a completely different song. Please let me know what you guys think about it in the comment section!
